NOTE: You can mix and match AI Suite II versions - the software will auto-detect the components and only update the latest version if you choose it. Download and install the version of AI Suite II with the latest Fan Xpert. We'll be using the Maximus IV GENE-Z in the guide, but it also applies to the Maximus IV Extreme, Extreme-Z, GENE-Z/Gen3 and entire Rampage IV series as well. It basically means you can throw out your 5.25in fan controller, as the software allows you to not only calibrate, but customize the performance:noise ratio of your entire case fan setup. The module we'll be guiding you through in this guide is Fan Xpert+ a complete, system-wide tool for customizing your fan control. Within the suite there are several modules that do different functions. If you've not at least tried the latest edition of AI Suite II yet, please do, and see if it changes your mind. Is there a software solution? Or is the motherboard dying? Any advice would be appreciated.Word of mouth about installing bundled software might have used to say it's a thing to avoid, and we'll admit, it doesn't have the best history of value-add, however, ASUS is seriously attempting to buck the trend. I've seen any number of forum posts about similar problems, but no solutions. They're PWM fans, and correctly set that way in the BIOS.ĪSUS tech support says I should send them the motherboard for servicing, but that's a last resort. The motherboard is an ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming board, the fans it doesn't like are the ones that came with the Fractal Design Define R6 case (Dynamic X2 GP-14 fans). Both BIOS and Fan Xpert recognize and control the CPU fan with no problems. With AI Suite 3 uninstalled, the fans work as they should, but if I reinstall it they run at 100% all the time. In the BIOS settings, the QFan Control recognizes all the fans and sets their speeds correctly.

I've updated all the drivers and the BIOS, and still have this problem. It doesn't seem to believe they exist (they're just a blank when I select them in the program), and runs them at 100% speed at all times. ASUS Fan Xpert 4 (part of their AI Suite 3) has stopped correctly recognizing the chassis fans. A computer I built has developed an odd problem with its chassis fans, which I'm hoping is a software issue rather than hardware.
